Welcome to the Sun Hill Arthritis Clinic

Arthritis is a painful condition that is all-too common in the United States, especially among the elderly population. There is no cure for arthritis, which is a chronic condition that causes damage and obstruction of joints throughout the body. There are numerous causes and types of arthritis. Old age is perhaps the leading cause of arthritis, but repetitive athletics, years of labor and traumatic injuries can also cause people to develop arthritis later in life. Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis

We specialize in helping people who suffer from either osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis. Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and is characterized by a degeneration of bone, cartilage and other tissues in joints throughout the body, particularly the larger load-bearing joints such as the knees and the hips. Rheumatoid arthritis is a symmetrical pain condition caused when the body's immune system attacks the lining of the joints. Both conditions are very serious, but the pain and symptoms can be managed through proper treatment.

Your First Appointment

When you visit us for the first time, you will meet with one of our specialists for a lengthy interview and physical examination. We will ask you numerous questions about your personal and family medical history, and we will also put you through several physical tests to determine the extent of your arthritis symptoms. Our diagnostic and evaluation tests consist of X-ray and MRI scans so that we can get a full picture of your condition and what it is we need to treat.

Once our evaluation is complete, your results will be reviewed by a specialist who will then begin planning an approach toward treatment. Most people who are treatment for rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis undergo more than one type of treatment in hopes of optimizing results. There is usually a degree of trial and error involved, but the end result is usually that we find treatment methods you can use to manage your symptoms for the remaining years of your life.
